These horns are becoming very popular in the USA. The bell flare generally begins near the second bend (which is also the most common location for the tuning slide), covering one-fourth to one-third of the length of the tube. This one has spent most of it's career in the Los Angeles recording studios and was previously owned by one of the first call players here in LA. There must have been a consensus at the time that this was the standard symphonic model trombone, because it is the same style decoration on the bell and the bore is similar to the Kruspe's and interestingly, what we play today.
