Physio Matters Podcast

Back in 2017 I was asked by the team at The Physio Matters Podcast if I would consider recording a session with them to explore the world of strength and conditioning and how to successfully inegrate it into the world of injury rehabilitation. Now at the time I didn't really realise what a big deal these guys were in the world of physiotherapy podcasts. I pretty much thought I would be chatting to one guy in his bedroom with a microphone and some recording kit and my mum and possibly my wife would have a listen when it was shared to the masses!

I WAS A LITTLE WIDE OF THE MARK!!

It turns out that these guys a pretty good at, as they say "putting big mouths and big ideas behind microphones" and there are A LOT, and I mean A LOT of physiotherapists that listen to the podcast. The team do a fantastic job to provide thought provoking educational podcasts and they strive share clinical gold delivered direct. Put simply, they deliver Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine information for those working in physiotherapy, sports therapy, sports rehabilitation, medicine and all divisions of the healthcare industry.

I first realised I had understimated the reach of this podcast when I started to get a lot of feedback via social media about my podcast...here's what the podcast delved into.

Session 43 - Strength & Conditioning (Beyond 3 x 10!) with Nick Grantham

It's about time you got a rest from Chewy again... But unfortunately you haven't got much of an accent shift. Still northern, still brash it is of course Chews Health clinical lead and resident S&C nerd Mark Reid. By popular demand, we've decided to venture into some Strength and Conditioning principles in this and a few future podcasts. Exercise, progressive loading, injury reduction principles and physical preparation have inevitably come up in conversation more than once in pretty much every podcast! In this month's episode, Mark delves into the concept of programme design with Nick Grantham, an S&C coach who has banged the 'Beyond 3x10' drum for quite a few years now.

It turns out I hit more than a few nails on the head and ever since I've seen a shift in the number of physiotherapists and allied health professionals taking an interest in strength and conditioning and programme design.
