"I’ve a lot of time for Nick and really enjoyed working with him. He’s obviously great at his job but is a top man as well. Nick gave me something that will stick with me for the rest of my footballing career. I just wish I could have met him a lot earlier. Playing Rugby for Tynedale I was unlucky enough to sustain a second serious injury involving ligament damage to my right knee. However, I was keen to get back playing again and to achieve full fitness this time I knew recovery time followed by a thorough physiotherapy and strengthening programme would be essential.

He got me well underway with a pre-operation conditioning programme to give me every chance of making a full recovery once I’d had the operation. Being involved with the fitness industry myself and having a good knowledge of many of the local trainers and coaches available I was encouraged when I saw Nick Grantham had relocated to the region to set up his private training company. "Nick has the ability to develop strength and conditioning programmes that fit perfectly with my gymnastics specific training. His conditioning programmes have always struck the perfect balance of making me strong without being bulky. I first started working with Nick at the end of 1998 for post-op rehab of an ACL reconstruction. In addition to the extensive work programme for my knee, Nick also designed a programme to improve my upper body strength. The programme worked beyond my expectations and allowed me to compete at the 1999 World championships in China. Nick continued to work with me, my results began to improve, and for the first time in my career I made a Rings final at a Grand Prix event and then went on later during the year to qualify for the European Vault final. Gymnastics is a tough sport and Nick is an exceptional strength and conditioning coach who has helped me return from injury many times and earned himself the name Nick ‘the body mechanic’ Grantham!. I have now retired from international gymnastics and work as a circus performer in the United States. As a performer I require different strengths to those I used during my gymnastics career and Nick continues to design programmes that keep me in fantastic condition. His programmes throughout the years have been a crucial part of my success and I am sure that his knowledge can be adapted to any elite athletes sporting requirements."
