"I’ve a lot of time for Nick and really enjoyed working with him. He’s obviously great at his job but is a top man as well. Nick gave me something that will stick with me for the rest of my footballing career. I just wish I could have met him a lot earlier. I think that everything Nick has done for me will prolong my career and I feel like I’m in the best possible shape of my career. I just need the football to follow which will come next season. Nick, kept me going when times were getting hard. Cheers for everything mate, will never forget what you’ve done for me."
Willo Flood (Mancester City, Celtic FC, Middlesbrough FC, Dundee Utd)

"I had the pleasure of working with Nick for the majority of last season at Middlesbrough FC. When Nick arrived at the club I was just about to undergo ankle surgery and he was instrumental in helping me return to full fitness ahead of schedule.  I found his training advice to be very beneficial and it was a pleasure to work with him .  I would highly recommend Nick to anyone wanting to improve their sports performance. He has a very professional approach and I’ll look foward to working with Nick again in the future. Thanks again Nick"
Stephen McManus (Middlesbrough FC Celtic FC and Scotland)

"Thanks to Nick, my gains in strength and core stability have allowed me to train injury free for the first time in 5 years. With a specifically developed programme, I have seen a step change in my running which has allowed me to achieve my goals."
Tracy Sample (Triathlete)

"Nick worked with me on my physical preparation during the 2010-11 season and helped me to improve my conditioning and return to playing. Nick was part of the support team working on my rehab from a year long lay off through osteitis pubis. The work Nick did with me has helped to make me get stronger and  recover from what could have been a career threatening injury. I owe a lot to Nick for the work he did with me as now I’ve got a platform for the rest of my career, he’s also not a bad bloke ha ha….."
Rhys Williams (Middlesbrough FC and Australian National Team)

Playing Rugby for Tynedale I was unlucky enough to sustain a second serious injury involving ligament damage to my right knee. However, I was keen to get back playing again and to achieve full fitness this time I knew recovery time followed by a thorough physiotherapy and strengthening programme would be essential.

It took over a year to recover and once I had progressed through the initial physiotherapy work and got back running again, my physio recommended I see Nick Grantham to work on a strength and conditioning programme.

Nick is a highly knowledgeable coach, knows his subject inside out and how to get athletes back to full fitness. Nick prepared a full strength and conditioning programme for me which was specific to strengthening my knee while incorporating the general requirements of rugby such as core stability, strength and explosive power, metabolic conditioning and speed development, we also worked on general fitness which I needed having been out the game for so long. A lot of the exercises were completely new to me and for the ones I had done, Nick advised on how to execute them properly with the right technique.

Nick is an excellent motivator and good fun to train with, time in the gym under his guidance is always well spent, he will continually monitor the way you train to ensure you can master the technique and make the most out of each session.

Within the first couple of weeks I noticed improvements in strength and stability, and after my second gruelling fitness test following four weeks of training; the time results spoke for themselves. I returned to pre-season rugby training and progressed to full contact sessions, feeling stronger and more confident on the knee. Following eight weeks from when I began training with Nick I played my first game and have continued since. Training with Nick has been the catalyst to my full recovery, not only is my knee in better shape I am generally fit strong and ready for the season ahead."
Ali Gray (Rugby Player – Tynedale)

"When Nick first came to the club i was waiting for a back operation to take place. He got me well underway with a pre-operation conditioning programme to give me every chance of making a full recovery once I’d had the operation. Once I’d had the operation I started to work on my fitness with Nick. I was abit wary of my back at first but Nick’s confidence assured me there would be no problems.  Nick eased me into training and I found it was brilliant and I really noticed the differnce in my performance!. I will carry on with the strength programm and if I ever need advice I will not hesitate to contact Nick. Thanks Nick."
(Jonathan Franks – Middlesbrough F.C.)

“In February 2007 I suffered a serious knee injury whereby I needed to undergo knee surgery (ACL repair). Having already had the misfortune of having this happen a second time I knew how important it was to get support throughout the long and intense period of rehabilitation to ensure a quick return to full fitness and a pain free lifestyle.

Being involved with the fitness industry myself and having a good knowledge of many of the local trainers and coaches available I was encouraged when I saw Nick Grantham had relocated to the region to set up his private training company. Being aware of Nick’s previous achievements and roles I didn’t hesitate in contacting him.

I started training with Nick and his team in December 2007 and six months on my knee feels strong, pain free and I am back to full training. Not only this but it has given me the incentive to change my diet and exercises routines due to a previous feeling of staleness when training. I can wholeheartedly recommend Nick and the professionalism, support and attention to detail that comes with each session. Thank you.”
Nick Probett

"Nick, I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me this season to help me stay strong whilst I’ve been injured. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some great fitness coaches during my career and you’re up there with the best of them. Thanks for all your help and support."
Kevin Thomson (Middlesbrough F.C., Rangers and Scotland National Team)

"I worked with Nick for 4 months during my recovery from a serious Achilles injury. As well recovering from injury I wanted to increase my lean muscle mass so that I could sit at the top of my weight category. Nick helped me achieve both of these goals. His training sessions were intense and he pushed me to my limits, but somehow he always seemed to be able to make the training enjoyable. Nick is a great coach as well as a good friend."
Baljit Kooner (GBR Wrestler (120kg)

‘‘Gymnastics is all about strength and power. Seven weeks prior to departure for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games I fractured my hand in two places! Nick played a major role in my rehabilitation and with his help I maintained my strength levels and improved my cardiovascular endurance, which gave me the confidence to face the Olympic Games where I achieved a personal best.’
Craig Heap (Olympic, World and European Finalist, Captain of the 1998 and 2002 Gold Medal Winning Commonwealth Games Team)

"Nick has the ability to develop strength and conditioning programmes that fit perfectly with my gymnastics specific training. His conditioning programmes have always struck the perfect balance of making me strong without being bulky. I first started working with Nick at the end of 1998 for post-op rehab of an ACL reconstruction. In addition to the extensive work programme for my knee, Nick also designed a programme to improve my upper body strength. The programme worked beyond my expectations and allowed me to compete at the 1999 World championships in China. Nick continued to work with me, my results began to improve, and for the first time in my career I made a Rings final at a Grand Prix event and then went on later during the year to qualify for the European Vault final. Gymnastics is a tough sport and Nick is an exceptional strength and conditioning coach who has helped me return from injury many times and earned himself the name Nick ‘the body mechanic’ Grantham!. I have now retired from international gymnastics and work as a circus performer in the United States. As a performer I require different strengths to those I used during my gymnastics career and Nick continues to design programmes that keep me in fantastic condition. His programmes throughout the years have been a crucial part of my success and I am sure that his knowledge can be adapted to any elite athletes sporting requirements."
Kanukai Jackson (Cirque du Soleil – Corteo)

"Two years ago I had a brain tumour removed and was left with balance problems and a lack of strength. I was recommended by my son to go to speak to Nick Grantham. Eventually I went, was assessed and a suitable programme was put together. That’s history, I’ve never looked back. The improvement is evident. What I find so great is because of Nick’s attitude, ability and no nonsense approach to training, not only has my balance improved but all other aspects of my fitness have improved. Enthusiasm and encouragement is passed on and I look forward to every session as the results are so positive. Nick creates a great training environment and the atmosphere is so friendly."
Ken Gray

"I have had major problems with my knees so Nick designed a training programme around this problem and I’ve just spent my first month without pain or need for strappings. I would recommend Nick to anyone serious about getting back to fitness following an injury".
