Being confident is a good thing but make sure you maintain humility. Walking around thinking that your shit doesn't stink invariably leads to trouble.

In the past, I expected the athletes I worked with to maintain a rigorous training programme during the festive period. You see, I grew up on a diet of BS and soundbites from my sporting heroes and the media telling me that every great athlete trained on Christmas Day and didn't take days off. I hope those athletes ignored my programme, put their feet up and enjoyed some downtime with friends and family, returning from their break, refreshed and ready to go again.

You can only thrive in a dynamic and sometimes chaotic situation if you've taken the time to prepare. I know that I'm far more relaxed if I've prepared well, even if an absolute shitshow is unfolding around me!
